Hawes inks three-year extension in PG

The Prince George Spruce Kings put pen to paper on a contract extension for general manager Mike Hawes (28 goals, 41 assists in 47 games with New Westminster and Ladner in 1989-90) through the 2023-24 season. Hawes is into his 10th season with the Spruce Kings as GM and 16th overall with the organization.
The Prince George native is also the Spruce Kings alternate governor and was named BCHL executive of the year in 2019, leading the team to the Fred Page Cup, Doyle Cup, and runner-up spot at the National Junior A Championship.
Vees pick up defenseman Arnott from Ontario
Penticton acquires 2001-born defenseman Grayson Arnott from Oakville (OJHL) for future considerations.
Arnott had 7-20-27 in 51 games with the Blades in 2019-20.

The Penticton Vees have acquired 2001-born defenseman Grayson Arnott from the Oakville Blades of the Ontario Junior Hockey League for future considerations.
Arnott, who’s from Toronto, had seven goals and 20 assists in 51 games as a rookie with the Blades last season. He added three points in four playoff games.
He’s a graduate of St. Andrew’s College prep school, where he posted five goals and 54 assists in 131 games between 2017 and 2019.

The Prince George Spruce Kings unveiled an alternate jersey on Wednesday that is planned to be worn when games return. According to a news release, it’s the first time the Spruce Kings used navy in their jersey since the 2005-06 season.
Stief signs SPHL deal with Macon Mayhem

Defenseman Matt Stief (eight goals, 68 assists in 109 games with Prince George from 2014-16) has signed a contract with the Macon Mayhem of the Southern Professional Hockey League.
Stief, 25, spent the last four seasons playing NCAA hockey at Canisius College, where he had 60 points in 133 games.
