Merritt’s Tkac adds another point at World Juniors

Merritt Centennials forward Daniel Tkac had an assist on Slovakia’s only goal in a 7-1 shellacking at the hands of Finland on Saturday at the World Junior Hockey Championships. Tkac now has a goal and an assist through two games as the Slovaks are 1-1 at the tournament.

Former Merritt/Langley forward Reichert loaned to Norfolk

Jakob Reichert (50 goals, 66 assists in 199 games with Merritt and Langley from 2010-14) has been loaned from the Peoria Rivermen of the SPHL to the Norfolk Admirals of the ECHL. Reichert has 9 goals and 8 assists in 16 games with Peoria this season.

Three Stars of the Night

First Star: Salmon Arm forward Lucas Breault scored two goals and added an assist.

Second Star: Coquitlam forward Greg Lapointe potted a goal and an assist.

Third Star: Chilliwack forward Kyle Penney notched a goal and an assist.

Honourable Mentions: Salmon Arm forwards Daniel Rybarik and Noah Wakeford each had a goal and an assist. Chilliwack forwards Joey Larson and Brett Willits, Silverbacks captain Akito Hirose, and Coquitlam forward Bradley Ong each posted two assists.
