Silverbacks defenceman Gervais commits to Lake Superior State

Salmon Arm defenceman Jeremy Gervais has committed to Lake Superior State University for this September. Gervais, who was acquired by the Backs at the trade deadline, has a goal and 16 assists in 15 games with Salmon Arm this season.
He was one of the highest scoring blueliners in the AJHL at the time of the trade, also putting up 35 points in 36 games with the Bonnyville Pontiacs. Gervais is the seventh member of Salmon Arm’s roster to commit to an NCAA program.
Centennials unveil third jersey

The Merritt Centennials unveiled a third jersey on Sunday that is being auctioned off with partial proceeds to benefit the Ty Pozzobon Foundation. The goal is to raise awareness for mental health across all sports.
Pozzobon, a former goaltender who served as a Centennials affiliate player during the 2007-08 season, was a champion bull rider from Merritt who died by suicide in 2017. He battled depression after suffering multiple concussions as a result of competitive bull riding.

15-year-old defenceman Luca Cagnoni made his BCHL debut as an affiliate player for the Alberni Valley Bulldogs in their game against Nanaimo on Wednesday night.
Cagnoni has six goals and 21 assists in 31 games with the Burnaby Winter Club Elite 15s this season. He’s also played six games with the BWC Midget Prep team, putting up a goal and four assists.

Forward Garrett Milan (67 goals, 88 assists in 177 games with Penticton and Coquitlam from 2008-11) has signed with the Rapid City Rush of the ECHL. This season, Milan has 17 goals and 23 assists in 38 games with the Pensacola Ice Flyers of the SPHL.
Former Victoria forward Nunn signs to stay in Olten
Forward Garry Nunn (56 goals, 76 assists in 140 games with Victoria from 2005-08) signed a contract extension with ECH Olten of the Swiss League, which is the second tier of hockey in Switzerland.
Nunn has 30 goals and 22 assists in 40 games with Olten this season. The contract extension runs through the end of the 2020-21 season.

Goaltender Jack Burgart (4.50 GAA, .823 SV% in one game as an affiliate with Merritt in 2012-13) has signed HK Nitra in the Slovakian Hockey League.
Burgart spent the first half of the season with the University of Lethbridge, where he posted a 1-8-2 record with a 4.32 GAA and a .903 SV%.
