Vees sign UMass commit Purcell for 2021-22

On Friday, the Penticton Vees announced the signing of 2002-born goaltender Colin Purcell for the 2021-22 BC Hockey League season.
Purcell, a University of Massachusetts commit who hails from Shaker Heights, OH, spent the last two seasons with the Youngstown Phantoms of the US Hockey League.
In 32 USHL games, Purcell compiled a 7-17-5 record along with a 4.50 goals-against-average, and an .862 save percentage.

The Drumheller Dragons of the Alberta Junior Hockey League announced on Friday that they traded 2002-born defenseman Travis Bohnet to the Wenatchee Wild for future considerations.
The product of Airdrie, AB played one game for the Dragons during the abbreviated 2020-21 AJHL season. He also got into 17 games with the Atlanta Mad Hatters of the USPHL Premier and posted four goals and 13 points.
Tarves moves to Selkirk of the MJHL
After being let go by the Surrey Eagles, 2002-born goaltender Hunter Tarves has signed with the Selkirk Steelers of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League.
As a first-year BCHL player, the North Vancouverite started three games for the Eagles during the 2020-21 pod season. He went 3-0 with a 3.00 goals-against-average and a solid .901 save percentage.
Benn goes from Winnipeg to Minnesota

Unrestricted free agent defenseman Jordie Benn (24 goals, 90 assists in 172 games with Victoria from 2005-08) has signed a one-year contract with the Minnesota Wild worth $900,000.
Benn, a 34-year-old from Victoria, BC, split the 2020-21 season between the Vancouver Canucks and Winnipeg Jets, finishing with a goal and 10 points in 39 games.
Finucci joins Cortina for AlpsHL season
Veteran pro Carlo Finucci (54 goals, 112 assists in 169 games with Burnaby from 2005-08) signed with Cortina of the Alps Hockey League, which is based in Central Europe and made up of teams from Austria, Italy, and Slovenia.
Finucci, a 34-year-old from Burnaby, BC spent last season with ASC Corona Brasov in Romania, where he had 23 goals and 56 points in 44 games.

The Norfolk Admirals of the ECHL announced on Friday that they have struck a deal to be an affiliate of the NHL’s Carolina Hurricanes. The Canes are also affiliated with the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League.
There are currently four former BCHL players on the Admirals roster.
- Defenseman Paul Meyer (eight goals, 26 assists in 58 games with Alberni Valley in 2015-16)
- Forward Anthony Collins (eight goals, 16 assists with Merritt, Prince George, Coquitlam, and Victoria from 2006-09)
- Forward Darien Craighead (52 goals, 86 assists in 143 games with Langley, Cowichan Valley, and Chilliwack from 2013-16)
- Forward Karl El-Mir (six goals, five assists in 29 games with Salmon Arm in 2014-15)
