Silverbacks forward Poirier commits to McGill

Salmon Arm Silverbacks forward William Poirier has committed to McGill University to play USports in 2020-21. The 20-year-old had 23 goals and 18 assists in 51 games this past season. His 23 goals were second on the Silverbacks.
Poirier played four seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League before joining Salmon Arm. He had 34 goals and 49 assists in 255 QMJHL games.

The Victoria Grizzlies have added forward Ellis Rickwood for next season. The announcement came from the owner of the Hamilton Kilty B’s, a junior B team in the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League.
The 17-year-old Rickwood had 17 goals and 45 assists in 50 games with the B’s in 2019-20. He added a goal and four assists in five playoff games.

Forward Nick Granowicz (32 goals, 27 assists in 58 games with Merritt in 2018-19) has been named the winner of the Deker Award as most outstanding rookie on the University of Michigan men’s hockey team.
Granowicz, 22, had seven goals and four assists in 21 games in 2019-20 as a freshman for the Wolverines.

Forward Kohen Olischefski (38 goals, 87 assists in 124 games with Chilliwack from 2015-17) was announced on Monday as captain for the University of Denver for the 2020-21 season. The 22-year-old has 18 goals and 21 points in 111 games with the Pioneers over three NCAA seasons.
Forward Ryan Barrow (34 goals, 54 assists in 102 games with Langley from 2015-17) and defenceman Griffin Mendel (four goals, 20 assists in 106 games with Penticton from 2015-17) were named alternate captains.
Barrow has 14 goals and 21 assists in 103 games during his college career while Mendel has five goals and 13 assists in 110 games over the last three seasons.
