Caps bring in Brazil for 2022-23

The Cowichan Valley Capitals announced the signing of 2003-born forward Connor Brazil for the 2022-23 BC Hockey League season.

Brazil, who hails from Las Vegas, NV, spent the 2021-22 season with Avon Old Farms School in Connecticut and posted eight goals and 18 points in 22 games.

Lucchini jumps from Germany to France

Defender Jeremy Lucchini (nine goals, 66 assists in 175 games with Trail from 2014-18) has signed with Strasbourg in FFHG, Division 1, which is the second tier of professional hockey in France.

The 25-year-old from Trail, BC ended 2021-22 with eight points in 14 games for Blue Devils Weiden of Germany’s Oberliga. Previously, he played four seasons of U SPORTS hockey at York University, tallying five goals and 18 points in 34 games.

Hodgson is off to the University of Arizona

2003-born defender Hunter Hodgson (no points in three games with Wenatchee in 2021-22) has committed to the University of Arizona this fall to play in the American Collegiate Hockey Association.

The native of East Wenatchee, WA spent the last two seasons with the Wenatchee Wolves 18U AAA squad and posted 11 goals and 50 points in 71 games.

Stewart commits to the University of Calgary

Forward Mack Stewart (no points in five games with Prince George in 2019-20) has committed to the University of Calgary to play U SPORTS hockey.

The 2001-born product of Villach, AUT tallied 19 goals and 48 points in 51 games with the Lloydminster Bobcats of the Alberta Junior Hockey League this past season.

Vilio returns to Norfolk of the ECHL

Abbotsford, BC native Elijah Vilio (no points in one game with Surrey in 2016-17) has signed a contract extension with the ECHL’s Norfolk Admirals for this coming season.

The 25-year-old defender split 2021-22 between the Admirals, Rapid City Rush, and Atlanta Gladiators, notching 13 goals and 30 points in 64 games.

Stuart leaves Merritt to join Nipawin

The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey Leagueโ€™s Nipawin Hawks announced on Thursday that they have hired Levi Stuart as their new assistant coach.

Stuart, a 26-year-old from Merritt, BC, spent the last three seasons as an assistant coach in the BCHL with his hometown Centennials.
