BCHL Bulletin: Four BCHL alumni part of Canadian Men’s Hockey Team, Greenfield heads to Stockton, and more!

BCHL alumni chosen for Canada at Winter Olympic games in Beijing

Four BCHL alumni have been named to the 2022 Canadian Men’s Olympic team that is heading to Beijing, China. Of them, three is on the team’s roster and one is an alternate.

30-year-old forward Daniel Carr (10 goals, 17 assists in 22 games with Powell River in 2009-10), 34-year-old forward Ben Street (42 goals, 60 assists in 110 games with Salmon Arm from 2003-05), and 27-year-old forward Adam Tambellini (63 goals, 58 assists in 107 games with Vernon and Surrey from 2011-13) are each added as rostered players for Team Canada.

20-year-old forward Kent Johnson (61 goals, 86 assists in 111 games with Trail from 2017-20) is an alternate for Canada.

Greenfield called up to Stockton

27-year-old goaltender Matt Greenfield (13-4-0, 2.09 goals-against average, .938 save percentage, two shutouts in 18 games with West Kelowna in 2015-16) has been called up to the American Hockey League’s Stockton Heat from the ECHL’s Kansas City Mavericks.

Greenfield, who is from Parkland, FL, played just one ECHL game this season and is 0-1-0 with a 3.12 goals-against average and a .864 save percentage. This is his second professional season following four seasons at the University of Calgary.

Thunder acquire Meyer

The ECHL’s Adirondack Thunder have acquired 25-year-old defenseman Paul Meyer (eight goals, 26 assists in 58 games with Alberni Valley from 2015-16) via trade from the Norfolk Admirals.

Meyer, who hails from Edina, MN, played 15 games with the Admirals this season, posting three assists. He is in his second season of professional hockey following four years of NCAA hockey at Colgate University.

Andrusiak dealt to Cincinnati

The ECHL’s Cincinnati Cyclones have acquired forward Zack Andrusiak (three assists in 23 games with West Kelowna, Salmon Arm, and Vernon from 2013-16) from the Idaho Steelheads.

Andrusiak, who hails from Yorkton, SK, played 26 games for the Steelheads this season where he scored nine times and added 14 assists. He is in his third season in the ECHL.
