Chiefs sign import forward Greatorex
The Chilliwack Chiefs have signed 2003-born import forward Landyn Greatorex to their active roster for the current BC Hockey League season.
The native of Reading, MA hasn’t played any hockey of record since last season when he had six goals and 12 points in an unknown number of games as the captain at Reading Memorial High.
He joins defensemen Lachlan Getz and Thomas Messineo and goaltender Grant Riley as the other import players on Chilliwack’s roster. Each Canadian-based BCHL team is allowed up to six imports.
Bucks add Yim to their blueliner for 2022-23
The Cranbrook Bucks have gained a commitment from 2004-born defenseman Markus Yim of Vancouver, BC for the 2022-23 BCHL season.
Yim is a full-time player for St. George’s School U18 Prep in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League this season. In 12 games with St. George’s, he has a goal and four points. He’s also played three games with the Bucks as an affiliate and posted two assists.
Giants sign Cowichan Valley affiliate Hutchison
2006-born goaltender Matthew Hutchison signed a Western Hockey League standard player agreement with the Vancouver Giants on Friday. Hutchison was selected by the G-Men in the third round, 50th overall, in the 2021 WHL Prospects Draft on Dec. 9.
Hutchison, who hails from Nanaimo, BC and plays for the North Island Silvertips of the BC Elite U18 Hockey League, is a special 15-year-old affiliate player with the Cowichan Valley Capitals this season.
He’s appeared in two games for the Caps in 2021-22, posting in a 1-1-0 record along with a 4.00 goals-against average and a .909 save percentage.
Flibrandt suspended by Worcester of the ECHL
Defenseman Clint Filbrandt (two goals, seven assists in 31 games with Penticton and Cowichan Valley in 2013-14) has been suspended by the ECHL’s Worcester Railers in order for them to hold on to his playing rights in the league.
He was acquired by the Railers from the Idaho Steelheads in an ECHL trade on Tuesday. The 26-year-old from Calgary, AB, had a goal in 10 games with the Steelheads this season after signing a contract with them in October.

First Star: Penticton forward Finlay Williams notched two goals and two assists as the Vees waxed Vernon 6-0.
Second Star: Wenatchee forward Cade Littler had a hat trick and an assist as the Wild mauled Merritt 6-2.
Third Star: Alberni Valley defenseman Ryan Nause finished the night with four assists and the Bulldogs grounded Surrey 7-2.
Honourable mentions: Centennials goaltender Colton Phillips-Watts stopped 65 shots. Salmon Arm forward Noah Serdachny tallied a hat trick. Alberni Valley forward Stephen Castagna scored twice and added an assist. Vees forward Luc Wilson put up a goal and three assists. Langley forward Riley Wallack, Bulldogs forward Josh Zary and Silverbacks forward Simon Tassy each posted a goal and two assists. Salmon Arm forward Brandon Santa Juana had three assists. Spruce Kings netminder Aaron Trotter kicked out 36 shots.
