Capitals swing a trade with Bonnyville of the AJHL

The Cowichan Valley Capitals have acquired 2001-born forward Roc Truman from the Bonnyville Pontiacs of the Alberta Junior Hockey League for 2003-born forward Adam Grenier and future considerations.

Truman is a Lethbridge, AB product committed to the University of Massachusetts-Lowell. He had five assists in 13 games with the Pontiacs during the shortened 2020-21 AJHL season. He put up 31 goals and 70 points in 79 games with the Drumheller Dragons from 2018-20 before being dealt to Bonnyville at the 2020 trade deadline.

Grenier, who’s from Coquitlam, BC, posted three assists in 17 games as a rookie during the 2020-21 BCHL pod season. He had 39 points in 36 games with Burnaby Winter Club Prep of the Canadian Sport School Hockey League U18 during the 2019-20 season.

Wild recruit Parker from East Grand Forks High

The Wenatchee Wild announced the addition of 2002-born forward Landon Parker of East Grand Forks, MN for the upcoming BC Hockey League season.

Parker scored 23 goals and 47 points in 22 games with his hometown US high school prep team. He added 13 goals and 23 points in 19 points with Team Velocity in the Upper Midwest HS Elite Hockey League.

He also played six games with the Minnesota Wilderness of the North American Hockey League and notched a pair of assists.

Eagles sign Brassington for 2021-22

The Surrey Eagles have recruited 2004-born defenseman Ty Brassington from Delta Hockey Academy U17 Prep.

Brassington, from White Rock, BC, played one game in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He added three goals and 12 points in 33 games with the DHA Elite 15s in 2019-20.

Gervais takes his game to Iowa

Forward Bryce Gervais (71 goals, 55 assists in 117 games with Salmon Arm and Penticton from 2010-12) has signed a contract for the 2021-22 season with Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League.

The 29-year-old from Battleford, SK had 50 goals and 99 points in 94 games with the DEL2’s Heilbronner Falken over the last two seasons.

Rinaldi hops back to the Swamp Rabbits

26-year-old Pierrefonds, QC product Anthony Rinaldi (22 goals, 16 assists in 53 games with Nanaimo in 2014-15) has signed an extension with the Greenville Swamp Rabbits of the ECHL on Monday.

He posted seven goals and 13 points in 43 games with Greenville in 2020-21. Rinaldi also was scoreless in five ECHL games with Kansas City this past season.

Komets bring in the Jones twins

Twin forwards Connor (80 goals, 118 assists in 163 games with Vernon from 2007-10) and Kellen (39 goals, 134 assists in 154 games with Vernon from 2007-10) Jones have both signed with the Fort Wayne Komets of the ECHL for the 2021-22 season.

In 2020-21, Connor had three goals and 13 points in 29 games with Västerviks IK of HockeyAllsvenskan, which is the second-highest league in Sweden. Kellen finished with 10 goals and 24 points in 51 games with Västerviks IK last season.

Beauvais signs with Montpellier

Blueliner Brett Beauvais (13 goals, 45 assists in 57 games with Penticton in 2013-14) signed a contract for the 2020-21 season with Montpellier of the FFHG Division 1, which is the second tier of hockey in France.

The 26-year-old from Summerside, PEI, spent 26 games with the Southern Professional Hockey League’s Knoxville Ice Bears and finished with a goal and eight assists. He also played one game with Rapid City of the ECHL.

Owings rockets to the Komets

Defenseman Josh Owings (four goals, 41 assists in 114 games with Cowichan Valley from 2015-17) has turned pro, signing a contract with the ECHL’s Fort Wayne Komets for 2021-22.

Owings, 25, played the last four seasons in NCAA Division III with Adrian College. The Saline, MI product finished with two goals and 19 points in 71 games.
