Say earns player of the week honours
Salmon Arm Silverbacks goaltender Owen Say was named the BC Hockey League player of the week on Monday after posting a 3-0 record with a 1.33 goals-against-average and a .959 save percentage in the team’s three games.
The 2001-born London, Ontario product now has a 7-4-2 record, along with a 2.72 GAA and a .909 SV% in 13 games with the Silverbacks this season.

2000-born Nanaimo forward Baxter Anderson scored his first BCHL goal at 1:27 of the second period in the Clippers 7-2 loss to Alberni Valley.
Anderson’s goal was Nanaimo’s second tally of the game to make the score 3-2 Bulldogs. The Burnaby, BC product did score a dozen goals in three seasons in the Western Hockey League from 2017-20.

The Cowichan Valley Capitals announced the recruitment of 2001-born forward David Jacobs for the 2021-22 BC Hockey League season.
The Princeton University commit played with Nobles and Greenough Prep School for the past two seasons. He had 15 goals and 45 points in 27 games with the school in 2019-20. The 2020-21 season didn’t get started due to COVID-19. this season and posted 11 goals and 27 points in 26 games.
The Needham, Massachusetts product also played three games with the Boston Jr. Eagles 18U AAA in 2019 and had one assist. Jacobs will head to the NCAA in September 2022.

Forward Matthew Byrne (five goals, eight assists in 61 games with Penticton and Powell River from 2018-20) has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey at Anna Maria College starting this September.
The 2000-born forward from Penticton had five goals and 11 points in the games with the Nelson Leafs of the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League this season.

Forward Jeremiah Luedtke (41 goals, 103 assists in 164 games with Prince George from 2012-15) has signed a contract extension for the 2021-22 season with Cholet of the French Ice Hockey Federation Division 1, which is the second tier of pro hockey in France.
The 24-year-old from Seattle had three goals and 17 points in 12 games with Cholet during the 2020-21 season after spending last season with Krefelder EV 1981 U23 of Oberliga in Germany.

Goaltender Kevin Boyle (20-15-1, 2.99 GAA, .903 SV%, 1 SO in 39 games with Westside in 2010-11) was reassigned from the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League to the Detroit Red Wings taxi squad on Monday.
The 28-year-old from Manalapan Township, New Jersey is 6-3-1 with a 2.78 goals-against-average and a .887 save percentage in 11 games with Grand Rapids this season.

First Star: Coquitlam forward Christian MacDougall had a hat trick as the Express dumped Powell River 8-2.
Second Star: Alberni Valley forward Chase Klassen put up a goal and two assists in the Bulldogs 7-2 win over Nanaimo.
Third Star: Penticton forward Jacob Quillan notched a goal and two assists as the Vees whacked Cranbrook 5-1.
Honourable mentions: Express forward Tyler Schleppe posted a goal and three assists. Bulldogs defenseman Ryan Nause had three assists. Chilliwack goaltender Mathieu Caron stopped 25 shots for his third shutout of the season.
