One of Salmon’s Arm’s hottest new pickups has been making an impression in the BC Hockey League by lighting the lamp in his rookie season.
2003-born forward Noah Serdachny had yet another impressive game by notching an assist in Salmon Arm’s 3-1 win over the Vernon Vipers on Wednesday. This puts the young center at six goals and 15 assists in his first 15 BCHL games. It’s an astounding start for a rookie who appears to be flourishing in his debut season.
Serdachny’s strengths are most definitely his skating, as you can often see him beating the opposition to the puck. On top of that, he has an excellent game sense with an eye for creating plays in the offensive zone.
Lacing up the skates
Originally from Edmonton, Alberta, Serdachny has played hockey since he was three years old. His dad is Steve Serdachny, a well-known power skating coach, who has worked with a number of National Hockey League players including Sidney Crosby, Jordan Eberle, and Ryan Nugent Hopkins to name a few.
His power skating program focuses on developing proper skating techniques and elite skill development. Skating is one of the biggest aspects when it comes to on-ice performance and the younger Serdachny has been working on it since he was a kid.
While incorporating skill work into this, players feel more comfortable with the puck and create more confidence in their game. Serdachny’s work on his game has definitely shown in his playmaking ability, as he currently leads all Silverbacks in assists, despite being a rookie forward.
The opportunity to train under his dad has allowed Serdachny to consistently improve his game, and he did just in time to jump to the BCHL. He is certainly catching attention from NCAA schools by already putting himself in the highlighted column.
U15 and U18 career
Serdachny began his under-15 career playing for SSAC U15 Lions, where he made his presence known quickly by posting 18 goals and 19 assists for 37 points in a 30 game season in 2016-17. Serdachny led his team in points and proved he was ready to jump up to the AAA level.
He finished his U15 career with Rink Hockey Academy U15 of the Canadian Sport School Hockey League. In his AAA U15 season, Serdachny had 34 points in 30 games, putting himself over a point per game for both years of U15 hockey. These stats are promising for his early development but saw a huge leap when he made his jump to under-18.
Playing for Rink Hockey Academy’s Elite 15s, Serdachny made his U18 debut and it wasn’t a light introduction. He posted 23 goals and 28 assists for 51 points in 36 games at the E15s level, finishing second on his team in scoring.
In Serdachny’s U18 prep full-time debut, he led his team with 18 goals and 42 assists for 60 points. He accomplished the totals in a mere 36 games, putting himself well over a point per game at the prep level as well. Serdachny’s 42 assists definitely proved that he is a playmaking forward with the ability to score too.
Attracting junior teams’ attention
One of Serdachny’s accomplishments during his career is being selected in the USHL Futures Draft. The Fargo Force drafted Serdachny with the 143th overall pick, which was in the 10th round, in 2019. This does mean if Serdachny could potentially move to the US Hockey League and play with the Force before going to college.

Serdachny’s other accomplishments include being awarded top scorer at the 2012-13 Brick Hockey tournament, and even being named to play at the 2016 Alberta Winter Games.
There is no doubt in my mind Serdachny is a player oozing potential who is skating in Salmon Arm. Once we’re allowed back into rinks to watch BCHL games, I hope to see Serdachny finish his time in Salmon Arm as he is an entertaining and exciting forward every time he touches the puck.
