The Victoria Grizzlies finished in the fifth spot in the Coastal Conference standings during the 2021-22 BC Hockey League regular season. The Grizz faced Langley in the first round and were eliminated in five games.
Victoria has six players committed to NCAA Division I schools, and three players aging out of junior hockey.
Grizzlies general manager and head coach Craig Didmon is looking at eight forwards returning in 2022-23, including BCHL scoring leader Matthew Wood. As well, Victoria has six defenders, and one goaltender in Kyle Kelsey eligible to come back next season.
Didmon has only three 20-year-olds set for the roster next season with room to add three more to get to the maximum of six.
These numbers will likely change as players move to other leagues like the Western Hockey League, US Hockey League, or North American Hockey League. They may drop down to junior B, be sent away in trades, retire, or wind up committing to college before September and don’t return to their BCHL clubs.
The depth chart is based on the league going with a 24-player roster next season and coaches going with 14 forwards, eight defenders, and two goaltenders.
