Woodside unveils 2020-21 mask

Prince George Spruce Kings goaltender Carter Woodside has unveiled his new mask for the 2020-21 BCHL season. The mask has a royal theme and features the red, white, and blue colours of the Spruce Kings.

The 2001-born netminder had a 5-11 record with a 3.08 goals-against-average and a .900 save percentage in 22 games as a rookie with Prince George last season.

Clifford inks ECHL deal with Everblades

Defenseman Jake Clifford (12 goals, 32 assists in 102 games with Merritt from 2013-15) has signed a standard professional contract with the Florida Everblades of the ECHL for the 2020-21 season.

Clifford, 25, had 13 points in 49 games with the ECHL’s Tulsa Oilers last season before being traded to Florida. The Arizona State University alum played one game with the Everblades after the deal.

Spotts named Westshore Wolves head coach

Aaron Spotts (37 goals, 45 assists in 141 games with Cowichan Valley from 2003-06) is the new head coach of the Westshore Wolves of the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League.

The 35-year-old from Spokane, Washington was named 2019 VIJHL coach of the year with the Kerry Park Islanders.

Maglio promoted to Spokane Chiefs bench boss

Adam Maglio, who was the head coach of the Prince George Spruce Kings from 2017-19, was promoted to head coach of the Western Hockey League’s Spokane Chiefs on Tuesday.

Maglio, 34, was an associate coach for the Chiefs last season after spending the previous four seasons on the Spruce Kings staff. He takes over from Manny Viveiros in Spokane, who was recently named the head coach of the American Hockey League’s Henderson Silver Knights.
