The Powell River Kings announced the signing of 2002-born forward Dawson Milliken on Thursday. Milliken, who’s from Canmore, Alberta, committed to the Wenatchee Wild earlier this off-season, but the US-Canada border closure affected his ability to play in Washington State.
Milliken had 14 goals and 12 assists in 32 Canadian Sport School Hockey League games with the Okanagan Hockey Academy Red Prep team in 2019-20. He also played one game with West Kelowna as an affiliate.

The Vernon Vipers have added 2000-born forward Josh Prokop on loan from the Western Hockey League’s Calgary Hitmen.
Prokop, who’s from Edmonton, played 54 games with the Vipers from 2017-18. He has 64 points in 122 games with the Hitmen over the last two seasons.
Scouras goes from Clippers to Capitals
According to the above article in the Cowichan Valley Citizen, 2002-born forward Alex Scouras was released by the Nanaimo Clippers and has since joined the Cowichan Valley Capitals.
Scouras is from Delta, BC, and spent the 2019-20 season with West Van Academy Prep U18 in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League, where he posted 58 points in 33 games.
He also got into two games as an affiliate player with the West Kelowna Warriors but didn’t score any points.

The Cranbrook Bucks and Trail Smoke Eaters have rescheduled their Friday, October 30 home game to Friday, November 6.
The reason for the schedule change in the Kootenay Cup is due to an issue with the new chiller system and ongoing renovations at Western Financial Place in Cranbrook.
Trail holds a 2-1 lead in the Kootenay Cup exhibition series.

2001-born twin brothers Quinn and Blake Emerson of the Wenatchee Wild have committed to Bowling Green University for September 2021.
Quinn, a forward, had 16 points in 53 games as a rookie with the Wild during the 2019-20 season. Blake, a defenseman, posted a goal and three assists in 28 games this past season with the Wild.
Their dad, Nelson, had a 12-year, 771-game NHL career and is currently the director of player personnel for the Los Angeles Kings.

According to an article in the Victoria Times Colonist, the Victoria Grizzlies have added 2002-born defenseman Luke Bateman on loan from the Seattle Thunderbirds of the WHL.
The Kamloopsian had a dozen points in 57 games as a rookie with the T-Birds in 2019-20.
Vipers bring on Sparrow as a development coach
The Vipers announced on Thursday the addition of Colton Sparrow (32 goals, 55 assists in 188 games with Vernon from 2010-14) in an on-and-off ice development role.
Sparrow, a Kelowna native, last played in 2018-19 when he put up seven points in seven games with IK Guts of Division 3, which is the fifth level of pro hockey in Sweden.

The West Kelowna Warriors acquired future considerations from the Humboldt Broncos of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League in exchange for 2000-born forward Jarrett Penner.
He had no points in eight exhibition games with West Kelowna during this year’s extended BCHL training camp. Penner, who hails from Saskatoon, spent the last two seasons with Notre Dame and posted 41 goals and 35 assists in 109 SJHL games.

Hockey Canada unveiled the 46 players invited to the national men’s junior hockey team selection camp and Boston College sophomore Alex Newhook (60 goals, 108 assists in 90 games with Victoria from 2017-19) is among those getting the nod.
The 2019 Colorado Avalanche first-round draft pick had 19 goals and 23 assists in 34 games as a freshman at Boston College last season. He finished seventh overall among all scorers in NCAA Div. I hockey.
Porter signs in Poland for 2020-21
Goaltender Cody Porter (9-7-0, 3.95 goals-against-average, .874 save percentage in 20 games with West Kelowna in 2013-14 and 2017-18) has signed with Zaglebie Sosnowiec in Poland for the 2020-21 season.
Porter, who hails from North Vancouver, BC, had a 4-7-1 record with a 3.59 GAA and a .887 SV% in 14 games split between Quad City, Macon, and Knoxville of the Southern Professional Hockey League in 2019-20.
