Express sign forward Thomas Stift

The Coquitlam Express has added forward Thomas Stift to its roster for 2020-21. The 17-year-old from Los Angeles had 25 goals and 30 assists in 58 games with the Anaheim U18 Jr. Ducks in 2019-20.

Stift also played 13 games with Luthern High school, where he put up 13 goals and 21 assists in 13 games.

Warriors nab Yale commit Phil Tresca

The West Kelowna Warriors received a commitment from forward Phil Tresca for 2020-21. He had ten goals and 18 assists in 28 games playing US high school for The Rivers School in 2019-20.

Tresca, 18, is committed to attend Yale in September 2021 and was ranked 210th among North American skaters in NHL Central Scouting’s midterm draft prospect rankings.

Bulldogs president David Michaud named BCHL marketer of the year

The BC Hockey League announced its marketer of the year for 2019-20 on Thursday and the winner, as voted on by the marketers from around the league, is Alberni Valley Bulldogs president David Michaud. The award is based on professionalism, marketing impact on their team and the league, creativity, willingness to work as a team, and overall representation of the BCHL.

Goaltender Jamie Phillips announces retirement

Goaltender Jamie Phillips (16-6-1, 2.01 GAA, .921 SV%, 5 shutouts in 26 games with Powell River in 2011-12) announced his retirement on Thursday. Phillips was 6-4-0 with a 2.92 goals-against-average, a .890 save percentage, and one shutout in 10 ECHL games with Brampton and Cincinnati during the 2019-20 season.

First Star: Wenatchee forward Matt Dorsey scored a first period goal and the shootout winner as the Wild beat the Ottawa Jr. Senators 3-2 in game six of the preliminary round at the 2018 RBC Cup.

Second Star: Wild forward Jasper Weatherby had a goal with 30 seconds left in the first period as Wenatchee built a 2-1 lead.

Third Star: Ottawa goaltender Connor Hicks stopped 36 shots.

Honourable Mentions: Wenatchee goaltender Austin Park stopped 24 shots, including four in overtime and four in the shootout. Jr. Senators forward Ethan Manderville scored with 11:36 left in the second period to tie the game at two.
