Dal Monte jumps from Alberni Valley to Amarillo

Alberni Valley Bulldogs defenseman Mattias Dal Monte has joined the Amarillo Bulls of the North American Hockey League.

The 2000-born blueliner had two goals and two assists in 15 games with the Bulldogs during the BCHL’s training season. He has 15 points in 87 career BCHL games with Merritt and Alberni Valley.

The Nanaimo product had a goal in his NAHL debut with the Bulls on Friday night.

Clippers recruit Devereaux signs with Charlotte of the USPHL

2001-forward Elijah Devereaux has joined the Charlotte Rush of the US Premier Hockey League, an unsanctioned junior league.

In seven games with the Jersey Hitmen of the National Collegiate Development Conference, the product of Webster, New York posted three assists.

Devereaux committed to the Nanaimo Clippers last April for the 2020-21 season but didn’t appear in any games during the BCHL training season.

Grizzlies bring in Gorton for 2021-22

According to the BCHL website, the Victoria Grizzlies have received a commitment from 2002-born forward Jack Gorton for the 2021-22 season.

Gorton, from Granite Springs, New York, scored three goals and 14 assists in 25 US high school prep games with Trinity-Pawling School in 2019-20.

He added two assists with the Mid-Fairfield Rangers 18U AAA of the Eastern Hockey Federation 18U Elite.

Vela inks ECHL deal with Florida

Forward Marcus Vela (31 goals, 37 assists in 104 games with Langley from 2013-15) has signed a contract with the Florida Everblades of the ECHL for the 2020-21 season.

The Burnaby, BC native signed with Toledo last October but the Walleye suspended operations for the season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Vela had 25 points in 49 ECHL games with Toledo last season as well as one assist in three games with the Orlando Solar Bears.

McInnis leaves the Grizzlies for Connecticut

The Victoria Grizzlies won’t have 2001-born forward Chase McInnis if the BCHL season starts up next month.

The Northeastern University commit has signed with the Connecticut Jr. Rangers of the NCDC and made his debut on Saturday night against New Hampshire.

McInnis, who’s from Hingham, Massachusetts, had six goals and six assists in 14 games with Victoria during the training season from September to November.

He is committed to Northeastern University for this fall. McInnis had 19 points in 57 games with the Grizzlies in 2019-20.

Benson heads from Cranbrook to Worcester

Defenseman Jagger Benson is gone from the Cranbrook Bucks and signed with the Worcester Jr. Railers of the Eastern Hockey League.

The 2000-born native of Lynnfield, Massachusetts has two goals in two games with the Railers so far this season.

He was scoreless in seven games during the BCHL training season. Benson played five games in Salmon Arm before joining the Bucks for a pair of games.

Benson is committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for the University of Vermont this September.

Rempel signs a contract for 2020-21 with Kansas City

The Kansas City Mavericks of the ECHL have signed goaltender Joel Rumpel (46-15-0, 2.33 GAA, .914 SV%, 3 SO in 69 games with Penticton from 2009-11) for the 2020-21 season.

The Swift Current, Saskatchewan native was 16-14-0 with a 2.82 goals-against-average and a .898 save percentage in 28 games with Stjernen of Eliteserien, which is the premier league in Norway in 2019-20.

Kim signs with St. Cloud in the NAHL

2000-born defenseman Brendan Kim has signed with the St. Cloud Norsemen of the NAHL.

Kim, who hails from Burnaby, didn’t play any games with Surrey during the BCHL training season because he was recovering from an injury.

Kim has a total of 33 points in 99 BCHL games with the Eagles and Vernon over two seasons. He also played one game as an affiliate with Penticton in 2017-18.
