Alberni Valley Bulldogs goaltender Luke Pearson has committed to Yale University, where he will play NCAA hockey for a team with the same nickname as his BCHL club.
The 2001-born netminder is expected to head to the Ivy League campus in Sept. 2021.
The Whitby, Ontario product was 3-4-1 with a 4.12 GAA and a .885 save percentage in nine games with Alberni Valley during the extended training camp season.

The BC Hockey League announced on Tuesday that applications are now open for the BCHL Canucks alumni scholarship program.
The program sees former BCHL players able to apply for scholarships to help fund their post-secondary education.
Last year’s scholarship recipients were

- Spencer McLean (Trail Smoke Eaters)
- Vincent Millette (Nanaimo Clippers/Cowichan Valley Capitals)
- Eric Margo (Coquitlam Express/Nanaimo Clippers/Alberni Valley Bulldogs)
- Marcus Tesink (Chilliwack Chiefs)
- Callum Volpe (Vernon Vipers/Powell River Kings/Chilliwack Chiefs)
The deadline to apply is Mar. 1, 2021, and the application form is available on the BCHL website here.

Although their season is on hiatus due to restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Wenatchee Wild is busy off the ice, making their second recruiting announcement in as many days on Tuesday.
This time, the Wild unveiled the commitment of twin brothers Benjamin and Jacob Ivey. Both are 2004-born forwards playing for the Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U AAA team this season.
Benjamin has a goal and an assist in four games with the U16 Jr. Ducks this season while Jacob has two goals and two assists in four games. The brothers hail from San Diego, California.

Forward David Bondra (22 goals, 41 assists in 59 games with Chilliwack in 2011-12) reached a mutual agreement with Kunlun Red Star of the Kontinental Hockey League to terminate his 2020-21 contract.
The 28-year-old, who was born in Annapolis, Maryland, had two points in 15 games with Kunlun this season. He put up three points in 18 games with the Red Star in 2019-20.
Mick signs with Tyringe

Forward Logan Mick (18 goals, 25 assists in 149 games with Vernon, Salmon Arm, and Langley from 2012-15) has joined Tyringe SoSS of HockeyEttan, which is the third tier of pro hockey in Sweden.
Mick, 24, notched four goals and two assists in 11 HockeyEttan games with Surahammars IF this season. The Vernon product was seventh in Swedish Division 2 scoring in 2019-20 with 65 points in 31 games.

Forward Jeff Smith (28 goals, 25 assists in 56 games with Salmon Arm in 2007-08) signed with EHF Passau Black Hawks of Oberliga, which is the third tier of hockey in Germany.
Smith, a 32-year-old from Spokane, Washington, had 45 points in 24 games last season with EHC Neuwied of the Bayerische Eishockey Liga, the fourth tier of Germany hockey.
