BCHL Today: Vees add a new defenseman and release another, Bucks bring in a forward and a defenseman

Penticton adds Forfellow, cuts Marsella

The Penticton Vees announced the signing of 2002-born defenseman Owen Forfellow for the 2020-21 season.

The Abbotsford, BC product committed to the Cranbrook Bucks back in February and played four games with the expansion squad during the extended training camp this fall.

There was no announcement from the Bucks, but Forfellow had to be released before being permitted to sign with the Vees.

He scored nine goals and 15 assists for 24 points in 33 games with the Fraser Valley Thunderbirds in the BC U18 AAA League during the 2019-20 season.

To make room for Forfellow, the Vees released 2002-born blueliner Jason Marsella.

The Greenwich, Connecticut native had one goal in seven pre-season games with Penticton. He is committed to attend Yale University next September.

Bucks bring in Vermont commit Benson

The Cranbrook Bucks have added 2000-born defenseman Jagger Benson to their roster.

The Lynnfield, Massachusetts product was in Salmon Arm over the last few months and played five pre-season games with the Silverbacks.

Benson is set to attend the University of Vermont starting in September 2021.

Bucks add 16-year-old Tyson Dyck

The Bucks have also brought on 2004-born forward Tyson Dyck. He’s already played three games for Cranbrook and scored his lone point, a goal, during a 4-2 loss to Merritt on Thursday.

Dyck, who’s from Abbotsford, BC, played with the Burnaby Winter Club Prep team in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League in 2019-20. With BWC, he posted 21 goals and 19 assists in 36 games.
