Former BCHL veteran Urban signed by South Carolina

Defenceman Zach Urban (12 goals, 54 assists in 176 games with Vernon, Powell River, Penticton, Victoria, Salmon Arm and Langley from 2010-14) was signed by the South Carolina Stingrays of the ECHL on Sunday. He has 1 goal and 4 assists in 22 games with the SPHL’s Macon Mayhem this season. Urban has also played five games with Kalamazoo in the ECHL this season, scoring 1 goal.

Three Stars of the Night

First Star: Coquitlam netminder Jack Watson made 45 saves.

Second Star: Victoria forward Cody Monds had 2 goals and 2 assists.

Third Star: Powell River forward Jacob Badal scored a pair of goals.

Honourable Mentions: Wenatchee forward Brett Chorske, Surrey forward Christophe Tellier and Alberni Valley forward Dawson Tritt each scored 2 goals. Salmon Arm goaltender Grant Adams made 28 saves. Vernon forward Brett Fudger had a goal and an assist.

He's been writing about the BCHL since 2008 and served as colour commentator on the TSN 1040 broadcasts in 2012-13. BCHLNetwork is one of Brian's many passion projects that he balances around his full-time job as an instructor in the Radio Arts and Entertainment Program at BCIT in Burnaby.
